When someone hurts us and cuts us to the core
Having to forgive them is a mighty big chore.
Since forgiving is impossible to humanly do
We call on the Holy Spirit to see us through.
Our sins come to mind by the power of the Spirit
Helping us to forgive, though we shudder to hear it.
While our sins come before us in a mental review
We become very humbled and contrite too.
The next thing that forgiveness brings about
Is an inner cleansing without any doubt.
Our outlook and attitudes remain stable and sound
With no emotional scars hanging around.
Our sins will remind us that we all are sinners.
But with a forgiving heart we become true winners.
Finding real forgiveness removes a heavy load
As we sinners go traveling down life's bumpy road.
This is how we deal with trials and pain,
Then, when it's all over we bounce back again.
With no feelings of defeat we can go full steam ahead
Knowing there is nothing, no, nothing to dread.
