I woke up to the dawning of a brand new day
And my heart turned to JESUS as I began to pray...
"Thank You, Jesus, for paying the debt that I myself had owed
And for Your Saving Grace that on me has been bestowed.
Thanks for the Mighty Armour to keep me safe from sin
And for the power of victory Your Crucifixion did win.
Lord, I ask You to take me as I'm down on bended knees,
Asking You to mold me, any WAY You please...
I ask for Your Grace today that I may walk upright
So others may see through me; Your Precious Saving Light.
I'm thankful I need not struggle trying to earn Eternity
For when I gave my heart to Jesus that GIFT was totally Free...
Leaving me in a state of "awe" with my heart so full of peace
That I want to shout Your Praises and never ever cease.
Lord, if questions about my salvation were pressing on my mind
I could never serve You; cause the time I'd never find
For I'd be so consumed by trying to be deserving
That You wouldn't receive Glory in my self-centered serving!
Help me, Lord, to show the world what Jesus did for me.
How He saved this wretch from sin and set my soul free
Filling me with a desire to serve You, Dear Father above;
Not with a self-serving attitude, but with a humble, grateful LOVE.
Thank You, Lord, for these words, as they flow into my mind
Because Your purpose of this GIFT has clearly been defined."
